If you are like most juniors and seniors, you’ll be collecting a large number of beautiful college brochures. The brochures are filled with fine-looking color photos showing the school in its most favorable light. Keep in mind that these are marketing materials and are designed to highlight the colleges’ most attractive features. While the brochures also contain a lot of useful information, the outdoor photographs may have been taken on an unusually beautiful day. 

 When you review brochures from various colleges, you’ll start to notice both differences and similarities. If something you care about is conspicuously absent in the brochure (e.g. classrooms, science center, theatre, dormitories, athletic and recreation facilities) it could be worthwhile to explore why.
