Heard about the College Board’s new Score Choice program that gives students the option to choose which scores (by test date for the SAT, and by individual test for SAT Subject Tests) to send to colleges? Well, many colleges aren’t on board with this new reporting feature and have their own submission requirements. Confused?

Designed to reduce student stress and improve the test-day experience, SAT Score Choice has become a headache for many students, counselors and parents.

Although the ACT has allowed students to submit scores by test date for years, many colleges and universities were not pleased with the College Board’s decision to offer a similar plan. Students who thought they could take the SAT's numerous times are learning that certain schools now require submission of all scores.

Since different colleges and universities use SAT and SAT Subject Test scores in different ways, The College Board has allowed participating institutions to display their SAT score-use practices on its web site.

The 52-page document, titled SAT Score-Use Practices by Participating Institution (with information accurate as of publication date) is available at collegeboard.com. A direct link is provided below.

The document contains SAT score-use practices for every college, university or scholarship program that chose to provide the requested information to the College Board, along with a table describing the various categories.
